When my headset connects to any android device via bluetooth, it identifies them as "Phone One" with the audio prompt.  Is there a way to customize the names?  All devices already show unique names in their bluetooth settings.  My Samsung S22 phone visually displays the name "S22" in its bluetooth settings.  My android tablet displays "Lenovo Tab P11 Pro (2nd Gen)" on its bluetooth settings.  Yet when I connect either device to the headset it audibly says "Phone One connected".  Where is this "Phone One" name coming from?  How can I change it so each device is correctly identified by the headset audio prompts?

All firmware is up to date on all devices.

Thank you.

Thank you so much for your response @jbinco

The headset should be paired with the provided USB dongle or the BT00 adapter that comes with the headset as it is the right way to connect the headset to the PC.

Connect and pair:

Connect to PC

Configure USB adapter Pair to mobile device Your Bluetooth USB adapter comes pre-paired to your headset.

1 Turn on your headset and insert the Bluetooth USB adapter into your laptop or PC.

2 The USB adapter LED flashes and then turns solid to indicate the headset is connected to the USB adapter. If you are wearing your headset you hear “PC connected” to indicate the connection has been established. When on a call, the LED on the USB adapter flashes blue. When not on a call the LED is solid.

3 Load Poly Lens Desktop App by visiting HP Poly Lens App – Manage Your Devices and Improve Communication with Ease | HP® India. This allows you to customize your headset behavior through advanced settings and options.

We are sorry to inform you that once you pair any device to the headset, we cannot customize the names according to the device name, hence it says PC connected or Phone one connected.

Also the multiple devices that you see when the headset is connected to the PC using the native Bluetooth are the headset receiver profile and the headset handset profile. Hence we recommend you to connect the provided BT700 Bluetooth adaptor to use the headset to its full potential without any disruption.

Take care and have an amazing day!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please try a few troubleshooting steps provided below so that I can assist you further?

1. Clear Trusted Devices:

Clear the devices connected to your headset. This option removes all connected devices, including computers, mobile phones, or USB adapters from your headset or speakerphone's memory.

Procedure:

  1. Connect your device to your computer and select the device from the list in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Settings > Reset Device.
  4. Select Clear Devices.

2. Remove a Device:

Procedure:

  1. Launch Poly Lens Desktop.
  2. Select the device from the list in the left sidebar.
  3. Go to the right bottom corner of the device Overview page and select More > Delete Device.

Thank you for the suggestions.  I did factory reset and cleared devices using the Poly lens desktop app on the Windows PC.  I was initially unable to remove the bluetooth paired device from my PC.  I found ~10 hidden items in the device manager named "Poly V4320 Series" and "Poly V4320 Series Avrcp Transport".  After manually deleting all the entries, disabling bluetooth and rebooting the computer, I was able to remove the V4320 from my the bluetooth device list on the computer.

After pairing the V4320 headset again, the PC shows 4 items, none are hidden.

The headset audio prompt still refers to the computer as "'PC' connected".

I similarly deleted all bluetooth history from my Samsung phone and paired the headset again.  The headset still says "'Phone One' connected".
