Voyager 5200 UC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello

I use a Bluetooth headset called "Voyager 5200 UC". I have two devices at home, simply because one does not last the full working day.

I am physically disabled and operate my computer using Dragon speech recognition software and I use this headset as my microphone for Dragon.

Over the past couple of days, one of the headsets has been making noises in the ear piece, when there should be no noise. The noise is like when you brush your skin against the microphone (but that is definitely not the cause). I think this is reducing my speech recognition accuracy. When I playback something I have said to Dragon, I hear the noise but it is impossible to determine whether or not it's part of what Dragon heard or is simply making the noise during playback.

I have noticed that the noise goes away when I turn the microphone off, in Dragon.

I have just switched microphones and so far the other microphone is now making this noise.

The microphone was purchased either in November 21 or October 22.

Can anybody advise please?

Hi!
Welcome to HP Poly community.
     1. Try re-pairing the headset with USB adapter.
     2. Set the headset as the default microphone source under PC settings.

     3. Headset Settings: Smart Sensors:

      4. Reset sensors:

  • Wearing the headset, tap the Call button to test sensors. A talk time voice alert means sensors are working. A tone or lack of voice prompts means sensors need to be reset.
  • To reset the sensors, power on the headset, connect the headset to a USB cable and plug the cable into your computer's USB port or an AC wall adapter (not included). Then place the headset on a flat, non-metallic surface for more than 10 seconds.
  • If you don't have your charging cable available you can also reset your sensors by first turning off the headset, then pressing and holding the Call and Mute buttons simultaneously until the LED turns off. Then put on your headset and turn it on.

       5. Disable sensors:

  • You can disable your headset smart sensors in Poly Lens App or by using a button press while your headset is idle. Simultaneously press and hold the Call and Mute buttons for 5 seconds. You hear "smart sensors off."

      6. Ensure your headset firmware is up-to-date.

      7. If the above steps do not fix the issue, pair the headset using PC native Bluetooth and check if you are still facing the same issue, I would request you contact our HP Support, and our Support Engineers should be able to sort this out.
