Hello everyone,

I'm trying to help my cousin setup True hands free calling with her Voyager 5200 UC Bluetooth headset, as she has difficulties pressing any buttons,

So when she says hey Google or ok Google, unless the phone microphone picks it up, nothing happens (although the headset had been paired and it's on, and it's working)

It works if she presses a button on the headset (although  Bixby comes up instead of Gemini or Google assistant)... When someone calls, she can say hey Google answer and it does... But she cannot initiate hey Google by taking into the headset microphone without touching the button on the headset.... Which makes it useless as an emergency calling solution (sure not mobile and can't use her have to press the headset bottom

Sorry for the autocorrect mistakes....

I was saying... She's not mobile and she can't use her hands to press a button on the headset... So she can't use it in case of an emergency to call someone...

Thank you for any suggestions!

Hi @RayRedington , Welcome to Poly HP Support Community.

I'm truly sorry to hear about the challenges you're facing with the Voyager 5200 UC headset. I completely understand how important it is for the headset to work perfectly, especially for hands-free operation. Let’s work together through a few simple steps to help resolve this issue:

1. Ensure Google Assistant is Set as the Default Voice Assistant:

Enable "Ok Google" or "Hey Google":

  • Go to Settings > Google > Search, Assistant & Voice > Google Assistant > Voice Match.
  • Make sure Voice Match is enabled to recognize your cousin’s voice, even when the phone is locked.
  • Test the voice assistant to confirm it works when the phone is not connected to the headset.

Set Google Assistant as the Default Voice Assistant:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Assist & Voice Input.
  • Ensure that Google Assistant is set as the default assistant and not Bixby or any other assistant.

2. Activating Google Assistant with the Headset:

Once you've confirmed that Google Assistant is set as the default voice assistant, kindly press and hold the Call button on the headset for about 2 seconds. This should activate the phone’s default voice assistant. You should hear a prompt from the phone, allowing you to use voice dialing, search, and other voice commands.

3. Refer to the User Guide:

You can also refer to the headset’s user guide to learn more about setting up voice assistant features. Specifically, look for sections on Voice Assistant (smartphone feature) for detailed instructions.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Everything you described works perfectly.

The problem we're facing is that my cousin cannot actually press the button on the headset to activate the voice assistant, so it can recognize the wake word hey Google...(she has mobility problems in her arms due to her medical condition)

We need to be able to activate the voice assistant wake voice command by voice only, without pressing  any button... So we need an always-on wake word voice assistant capability... Can we achieve this with this headset?

If not, can you recommend another model or even manufacturer, which would have this feature available?

Thank you!

Thank you for your response,  @RayRedington.

I understand that you're hoping to use the headset microphone for voice assistance without having to press any buttons. Unfortunately, with the Voyager 5200 headset, and all other Poly headsets, the answer button must be pressed to activate Google Voice Assistance. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and truly appreciate your understanding.
