Poly Voyager 5200
Microsoft Windows 11

I'm using a new Poly Voyager 5200 with MS Teams for my daily work. When I lower the output volume while inside a meeting using the buttons on the Voyager 5200 device, the minimum volume level is 8, however the voice coming through headset is still loud enough to be heard clearly when the headset is sitting on the desk a few feet away.  I simply cannot keep the headset on while any voices are coming through, because it is too loud.

How can I adjust the output volume while connected to MS Teams?

Hi @kputschko, Welcome to Poly HP Support Community.

Please follow the troubleshooting steps below and test the headset:

1. Verify and update the headset's firmware using the Poly Lens application on your PC.
2. Reset or disable the headset's sensors using the Poly Lens application.
3. Ensure the headset is set as the default device on your PC and softphone.
4. Check and adjust the headset's volume level on the PC.
5. Reset the headset using the Poly Lens application.

If the issue still persists, I would request that you contact HP Support, and our support engineers should be able to sort this out. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:

I also am having this same issue and the 5 steps listed did not work so I contacted support and their only corrective action was to reset the device again. They wanted to point the finger at the Teams app but this product is supposed to work with Teams so I feel it should be on Poly to make sure their product works correctly. Has anyone found something that works?

Thank you for the information, @MC1620 ,

Please navigate to Windows Settings > System > Sound > Volume Mixer and adjust the volume for Microsoft Teams as per your requirement. Additionally, connect the headset to a different PC and also try connecting the USB adapter to a different USB port.

Thank you Salman for the quick response and this suggestion had me hoping it would work but unfortunately it did not. I put the sound level from 100 down to 5 for the Teams app in the volume mixer settings and it didn't have any impact on the level of sound during a Teams call. I was able to try a different USB port but it didn't help either. I don't have another pc to try this on that I can use my work Teams client. Any additional ideas? I have also tried connecting through Bluetooth instead of using the USB dongle but that didn't help either.

Agreed, I'm experiencing the same thing as MC1620 when making that adjustment.

Thank you for the confirmation @MC1620 , @kputschko

Please attempt the additional troubleshooting steps provided below and verify if the headset functions properly.

Navigate to Windows Settings > System > Sound > More Sound Settings > Playback. Right-click on the headphones and choose 'Properties'. In the 'Advanced' tab, uncheck all options under 'Exclusive Mode'. Test the headset afterward.

If the problem continues, open Device Manager, locate 'Sound, video and game controllers', and uninstall the Poly Voyager 5200 driver. Reinstall the Microsoft Teams app, reconnect the headset, and test again.

Should the issue remain with Microsoft Teams only, reach out to the Microsoft support team for further help.

Hi, I've had the same problem with the BT5200 defaulting to dangerously loud volumes. After hours on tech support with my work's IT and with HP,  doing all the other stuff HP recommends here with no success, I may have stumbled on a solution on my own. I don't understand why this works, I don't know if it will last, so caveats apply. The last two mornings, on my first Teams call of the day, I've turned both the system volume and the Teams volume (in sound settings in "App Volume and Device Preferences" as low as they will go, making the headset a little too quiet to hear. I then adjust the volume on the headset up a little. For some reason, when I log onto my next call, the volume stays the same, instead of defaulting again to deafeningly loud. Looks like I'll have to do this somewhat annoying adjustment every morning on my first Teams call, but that's way better than adjusting the volume on every call. Hope this works for you too!

The solution I found was to use the volume mixer on pc.

Right click on volume on pc, choose "open volume mixer" alter teams volume.

You can also go

Settings - sound - advanced sound options (app volume and device preferences). Then adjust teams volume
