I have an Elitebook x360 1030 G4 that I want to connect to 3 external monitors in extended view (the laptop screen to remain closed). Is this possible through the use of any particular dock or adaptors? I don't really care on the configuration of the dock/cables, all three monitors have VGA/DP/HDMI inputs. I've seen one of my previous colleagues do it on the same/similar model laptop and a HP dock, but I don't know what dock it was.

all 3 docks have 2 dp ports, the usb-c docks also have an hdmi port, while currently the TB dock has a VGA port (last dock with VGA), but can use a usb-c port to convert to just about any other connection type

yes, your laptop will support a total of 3 independent streams... you can use the HP usb-c universal dock for 3 1080p displays (will require a single displaylink driver install) - 2 dp and an hdmi, or the hp thunderbolt 3 g2 dock (same ports)... the usb-c g5 dock can support 3 displays, but only 2 at 1080p, while the 3rd display would be lower resolution
