I have elitebook 830 G6 now. Earlier I had 830 G5 with nfc. The G5 proved to be faulty, and I got the G6 as a replacement.
This g6 did not come with nfc. I managed to get the working NFC module + antenna + NFC from the old computer.
Installed NFC but did not find anything in bios or windows.
Manual of G6 says NFC part would be L14385-001. I wonder if this would work at all. Some people bought this and it would not show in bios or windows either. HP support does not give any definitive answer.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thank you.

I sent him photo of my G5 parts. He replied: Hi
I have attached 2 photos of the parts included. They are sealed so I cannot open the bags.
Comparing the photos with yours it looks like the white cable with blue on the ends is not included.

Hello.
The Maintenance and Service Guide for Elitebook 830 G6 is here.
L14385-001 is not mentioned in there and it seems to be for G5 models, which likely is the reason it is not working.
L64720-001 is the proper NFC module for 830 G6. Please note that NFC requires a touchpad with an NFC antenna. If your laptop didn't come with NFC, your touchpad most likely is without the antenna, so you also need to order part L60598-001 (Touchpad with NFC antenna) as well.

I looked from hp partsurfer with my serial number. There is a "part"
Part Number : 4WE39AV Part Description : No Near Field Communication (No NFC)
Does this mean NFC is disabled so that even buying parts for 830 G6 NFC will not work?
These old parts for old laptops are still expensive. Dont want to buy and get disappointed.
Any info on this strange thing. Never seen anything like this. Nor cant I imagine why this has a part number.
Thank you

Hi,
I found L64720-001 in ebay. It has the module and antenna but no cables. The manual that you referred to has a mention L64720-001 should include all 3 (module, antenna, cable)
HP is very incocistend and obscure, causing a lot of uncertainty.
sadly.

Hello.
The code is part of the BOM (Bill Of Materials) when the laptop was made at the factory, and it just explicitly states that the NFC funtionality is NOT to be installed to the laptop. This is quite typical in custom orders, you can order with no webcam or no wireless network to meet some criteria. It could just be a cost-saving issue, since very few people actually have use for NFC on laptops.
It means nothing else, you can still add the NFC as long as you obtain the correct NFC parts I listed earlier.

Well, I found two listings for the code. (same ebay?)
One is in what looks like an original HP spare part package. No images of course other than the box.
The other one is an opened, probably pre-used part with the system board cable hanging from it, as it should be.
Congrats, I think you found an error in the guide, it should read "NFC module (includes system board cable".
With this part you will also need the Touchpad replacement since the NFC antenna cable is in that package. Either L60598-001 or L60598-002. (HP Partsurfer says the -001 is discontinued and replaced by the -002)
