HP ZBook Fury 17.3 inch G8 Mobile Workstation PC IDS Base Model
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Since I update the latest bios on my  HP ZBook Fury 17.3 inch G8 Mobile Workstation PC, I can't display on external screens through a docking station :

I got 2 hard disk using one for my business activities with Windows 10 pro 21h2. I disabled the other disk through bios option like a dual boot but active by bios.

The other one is for my hobbies (playing games).

It doesn't works for the two of us.

The problem is just for the screens through usb-c docking station. If I plug a hdmi directly through the hdmi port it's ok. Others stuff pluged like keyboard, mouse usb key are fine.

I tried to update the same bios again : nok

I tried to reset to factory default : nok

I updated bios to version 01.09.02 date 05/05/22

Docking station is not the problem cause I try the same one and a different model that work for my friend laptop (same as me but not the same bios) and it works for him but not for me...

Is there a way to downgrade bios to an old bios version ?

Hello, I have the same problem with EliteBook 845 G7.
I use i-Tec USB-C docking station with power delivery and display port alt mode.
Everything worked fine until upgrade BIOS to 01.09.02. Since that, displays stopped responding. In dmesg I can see

[drm] Alt mode has timed out after 201 ms. I have also problem with my USB-C network card, since upgrade, it works only when plugged one side, so USB-C works just like USB-A. I suspect BIOS upgrade killed one of lines in USB-C ports. Therefore, only one side works just like USB hub, but no additional features like DP alt mode.

I tried to downgrade back to 01.08.20, but it downgraded BIOS, but USB-C controller firmware stayed same (buggy from BIOS 01.09). I assume HP has deleted the faulty BIOS from the web because only the old version can be downloaded now.
I hope they are working on fixed BIOS with working firmware.

Hello Paul2nice1

(1) what is the part number/Product number (p/n) of your notebook ?

(2) what is the part number/Product number (p/n) of your docking station ?

Hello Ub6424

[personal info removed] HP ZBook Fury 17.3 inch G8 Mobile Workstation PC for my notebook

[personal info removed] product number 1TJ76AA HP Display E243d 23.8-inch Docking Monitor

But I tried with many others docking stations and I got the same problem because of the USB-C port since I updated the BIOS.

Today I'm working with any docking station but with an adapter USB-C to USB 2.0 but it's not optimal : I got so many crash, the screen is not optimal...

Hello Paul2nice1 and Gblack,

the present problem with the Bios version and the USB C port should be officially reported to HP. In my personal opinion, the community cannot help with this issue.

Do you have an official link ? I only have a technical support available through my work I can open a ticket but not sure they will push to HP... It's just a hardware support, they will change my motherboard...
