Hi All,

Could anyone explain me why after flashing BIOS to the latest version (L71 v1.42) system is being automaically restarted? Is there a method\switch to prevent this behavior? I tried (as for all previous BIOS updates) this command:

HPBIOSUPDREC64.exe -s -p<password file> -fL71_0142.bin

In log file I can see that restart was triggered by HP BIOS updater.

Information|HPBiosUpdate::RestartSystem|*************   End of HPBIOSUPDREC session - restarting    *************

Information|HPBiosUpdate::RestartSystem|

thx

Tom

OK, so I found the solution - the key is to use a "-r" switch within your command line and that prevents autoreboot after flashing the BIOS. I don't know how I overlooked this..

Do you mean once the BIOS Update has finished it auto matically restarts?

Yes, exactly. I confirmed this by checking the updater log file..

Why do you want to stop it from restarting after the BIOS update was installed successfully?  is it because you are imaging a ton of machines at once and once the BIOS update finishs they are considered good for use?

This is not a question why I need this, this is a question how to prevent this behavior. FYI - because autorestart brakes my SCCM Task sequence I use to deploy OS.
