HP EliteDesk 800 G3 Tower PC
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP Elite DESK  800 G3  TOWER PC and I forgot the BIOS administrator password.

It is currently running Windows 11 PRO, and I would like to ENABLE VIRTUALIZATION ON MY PC

I would like to request assistance with a BIOS password reset using an SMC.bin file, and I would like to ask if this is still possible even though DESKTOP

Could an HP moderator please assist me or let me know how to proceed?

@DREXJB, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP EliteDesk 800 G3 Tower PC.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

If you've forgotten the BIOS administrator password for your HP EliteDesk 800 G3 Tower PC, you will need to reset it before you can enable the virtualization technology. Here is how you can reset the BIOS password:

  1. Clear BIOS Password:
  2. You can clear the BIOS password by removing the RTC (Real-Time Clock) battery from the motherboard. This often resets the BIOS settings to default, thereby removing password restrictions.
  3. Ensure your PC is turned off and unplugged from the power source.
  4. Open your PC case to locate the RTC battery on the motherboard.
  5. Remove the battery; wait for about a minute, and then reinsert it.
  6. Close the PC case and reconnect all power sources.

  7. Enter BIOS Setup:

  8. Power on your PC and immediately press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.

  9. Enable Virtualization Technology:

  10. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the Advanced tab.
  11. Select System Options and press Enter.
  12. Within the System Options menu, look for Virtualization Technology (VTx) and select it.
  13. Use the arrow keys to choose Enabled.
  14. Press F10 to save your changes and exit BIOS.
  15. Restart Your PC:
  16. Allow your PC to restart and boot into Windows 11 PRO. Virtualization Technology should now be enabled.

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
