HP 250 G6 Notebook PC

Hello,

I own an HP 250 G6 laptop that was functioning properly until I initiated a BIOS update using the official HP utility from within Windows. During the update process, the screen went black, and the laptop has since failed to boot. Since then, I have attempted multiple BIOS recovery procedures without success. Below, I have detailed all the steps taken and the outcomes observed:

1. CMOS Reset:

  • Disconnected the power adapter and removed the battery.

  • Pressed and held the power button for 30 seconds to fully discharge the circuits.

  • Replaced the CMOS battery with a new one.

  • No changes were observed — the screen remained black, with no beeps or error codes.

2. Power and Port Checks:

  • The laptop is powered solely by the adapter, with the main battery removed.

  • The power LED remains steadily lit in white.

  • The CD-ROM drive responds to the eject button and opens/closes, but does not initiate any boot process.

  • Tested all USB ports (both USB 2.0 and 3.0), but no signs of boot activity or display output.

3. BIOS Recovery via CD-ROM:

  • Created a CD with the .bin and .sig files extracted from the official BIOS package from the HP support site.

  • CD structure:

    • BIOS.bin (084d4.....)

    • BIOS.sig (084d4....etc)

  • Procedure followed:

    • Disconnected the power adapter.

    • Inserted the CD into the drive.

    • Reconnected the power adapter.

    • Pressed and held Windows + B and then pressed the power button for 1 second.

    • Continued holding Windows + B for approximately 10-20 seconds.

    • The CD-ROM drive attempted to read the CD but stopped after about a minute. The fans remained running, but the screen remained completely black.

4. BIOS Recovery via USB 2.0:

  • Formatted a USB 2.0 drive to FAT32 and structured it as follows:

    • BIOS.bin

    • BIOS.sig

  • Repeated the recovery procedure:

    • Disconnected power.

    • Inserted the USB drive.

    • Reconnected power.

    • Held Windows + B and pressed the power button.

    • Held Windows + B for 10-30 seconds.

    • The fans ramped up to maximum speed, but the USB drive showed no signs of read activity (no blinking LED). The screen remained black.

5. Additional Observations:

  • During these procedures, the fans increased in speed, indicating that the system attempted to enter a recovery state(or something).

  • The CD-ROM drive initially spun up but then stopped after approximately one minute.

  • No visual output or error codes appeared on the screen at any point during these attempts.

Request for Assistance:
Could you please confirm whether the file structure and procedures followed are correct for BIOS recovery on the HP 250 G6? Additionally, are there specific filenames or file extensions (.sig, .bin) required for the BIOS to detect and initiate the recovery process? Any further guidance or recovery methods specific to this model would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and support.
