Locked BIOS and Hard Disk on HP EliteBook 8440p - Need Assistance

Hello,

I am encountering a critical issue with my HP EliteBook 8440p. Whenever I try to boot the laptop, I receive the following message: “Hard disk locked, enter password.” Unfortunately, I do not know the password.

Here are the details of the problem:

1. The laptop prompts for a password before it allows access to the BIOS.

2. I cannot access the BIOS setup because it requires a password, which I don’t know.

3. I have tried replacing the hard disk with a new one, but the issue persists, indicating that the password is stored in the BIOS and not on the hard disk itself.

Steps I Have Tried:

• I attempted to reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery for several minutes, but this did not resolve the issue.

• I also looked for a BIOS reset jumper on the motherboard but couldn’t find one or it didn’t help.

I am looking for guidance on how to reset or bypass the BIOS password. If a master reset key or any utility from HP can help, please advise. I am the legitimate owner of the device and can provide proof of purchase if required.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Best regards,

Azlam Dnx.
