The problem is my current built in wifi adapter is capable only for 2.4 ghz and I would like to change it for a dual band is my internet upload/download speed limited around 30-40 mbps. I bought a built in adapter and the seller confirmed it should be capable but the system didn't recognize it after I changed so they suggested updating the bios. Due to the nature of the usage I prefer this method instead of using an external usb adapter. Could you suggest any solution?

Thank you for your response @Zoltan14

To successfully upgrade to a dual-band internal Wi-Fi adapter without using a USB dongle:

  • Get the officially supported HP Dual-Band card: The maintenance guide lists the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 802.11ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter as a supported integrated wireless option for the HP 250 G4.
  • Verify HP Spare Part Branding: The replacement card must be an official HP spare part version (with an HP subsystem ID). A generic or non-HP version of the Intel AC 3165 card will fail the BIOS whitelist check.
  • Antenna Connection: The HP 250 G4 is designed with a single internal M.2 antenna cable. When installing the card, ensure the single antenna lead is connected directly to the #1 Main terminal on the WLAN module.
