Microsoft Windows 11

Hi -

I just recently bought my HP Pavilion Plus 35.6 cm Laptop 14-eh0037TU laptop

12th Generation Intel® Core™ i5 -12500H Processor

The battery life is exceptionally short, lasting only about 3 hours on a full charge. The battery is draining quickly even  have low brightness.

Can you please provide a solution for this.

Hoping you can help me before I return this item to where I bought it.

Thanks,

Hari

Hi @Hari471

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Certainly, battery draining issues on a new laptop can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to address this problem. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and improve the battery life on your HP Pavilion Plus laptop:

Check Power Settings:

  • Click on the battery icon in the taskbar.
  • Adjust the power mode to "Better Battery" or "Power Saver."
  • Open "Power & sleep settings" and make sure your power plan is optimized for battery life.

Update Drivers:

  • Ensure that all your device drivers, especially the graphics and power-related drivers, are up to date. You can do this through the Device Manager or by visiting the HP support website.

BIOS/UEFI Update:

  • Check if there are any BIOS/UEFI updates available for your laptop on the HP support website. Sometimes, firmware updates can improve power management.

Background Applications:

  • Close unnecessary background applications and processes. Some applications may be running in the background and consuming power.

Windows Update:

  • Make sure your Windows 11 operating system is up to date. Microsoft regularly releases updates that may include improvements to power management.

Display Settings:

  • Lower the screen brightness when you're on battery power. Bright screens consume a significant amount of energy.

Battery Health:

  • Check the battery health using the built-in Windows battery report. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type: powercfg /batteryreport. This report will provide information about your battery's health and usage.

Battery Calibration:

  • Occasionally, calibrating the battery can help improve its accuracy in reporting remaining charge. You can do this by letting the battery fully discharge and then charging it back to 100%.

Check for Malware:

  • Run a malware scan to ensure that your laptop is not infected. Malware can sometimes cause excessive CPU usage, leading to increased power consumption.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
