Battery Health Mnager

when i set it to maximuze battery health

It keeps changing health number % dpending on laptop charge

like it would be at 68% health at 98% then goe to 75% health at 99%
then goes from 68% health 16% charge to 0% charge at same 68% health in 10sec and laptop shutdown

when i set it to mimize battery health management
Battery health stays at 80%

Battery works just fine no sudden stops

What is going on in hp bios?
I enable power control and change battery health manager in bios

Hi @omarhanykasban

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for reaching out. We understand the concern with the Battery Health Manager behavior on your HP ProBook x360 435 G8, especially when the reported battery health percentage changes significantly based on the current charge level and the system powers off unexpectedly at around 16% charge.

Based on the details shared, the Battery Health Manager setting itself is not designed to continuously change the battery health reading. When "Maximize My Battery Health" is enabled, the BIOS applies charging strategies intended to help extend long-term battery lifespan.

However, rapidly changing health values and a sudden drop from 16% to 0% may indicate that the battery calibration data is inaccurate rather than a Battery Health Manager malfunction.

Please try the following:

  1. Update the BIOS to the latest version available for the HP ProBook x360 435 G8.
  2. In BIOS, restore default settings, save changes, then re-enable your preferred Battery Health Manager option.
  3. Fully charge the battery to 100% and keep the AC adapter connected for at least 2 additional hours.
  4. Disconnect AC power and allow the notebook to discharge normally until it powers off.
  5. Reconnect AC power and charge uninterrupted back to 100%.

After the calibration cycle, check whether:

  • The battery percentage decreases more consistently.
  • The battery health reading remains stable.
  • The unexpected shutdown at 16% no longer occurs.

Since the battery operates normally and remains fixed at 80% when Battery Health Manager is set to "Minimize Battery Health Aging," the battery hardware may still be functioning correctly, but the battery gauge reporting appears to need recalibration.

If available, please also run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI > Battery Test and let us know whether the result shows Passed, Calibrate, or Failed. This will help determine whether the behavior is related to battery reporting or battery condition.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
