Battery calibration issue

I had installed new battery in the laptop. Despite several attempts battery calibration failed (used multiple approached: HP assistant, recommendations in forums, etc). Now the system does not even show an option to calibrate battery, just "Battery status: replace"

Battery charge is shown max at 74%. Though, battery seams to work properly

Does the battery charge up to 100% when the notebook is turned off?

Be aware that all calibration does is set the 100% to current and actual storage capacity. That would be in the case of a worn battery with about 80% of design storage capacity left, 100% after calibration would actually be 80% of design storage capacity. Calibration does nothing to enhance the performance of the battery.

If it will charge completely while turned off and connected to the power adapter, the fact that calibration is not available is a bit of a moot point.

Old battery was charging to ~78-79% and holding almost no time w/o power adapter.

When I connected new battery, it was charging up to 79% (both with turned on and turned off laptop). It hold w/o adapter for several hours and seems to work properly, apart from max charge showing at below 80%.

New battery was installed less than 2 month ago. First it should "calibration needed", not it shows "replace battery" (see below)

The last couple of sentences in your last reply are not very clear in their intent. Please rephrase them.

Enter the BIOS to check the Power Management options.

The maximum charge may be set to 80%.

If it is that is as high as it will charge, unless you change the setting to 100%.

Hello,

My intents are:

- obtain correct information about battery charge (i.e., 100% when fully charged vs 73% - shown currently)

- remove "replace battery" notification that the system shows

- ensure that the battery is functioning properly

BIOS Version/Date HP P80 Ver. 01.40, 19-Nov-21

Please clarify: "Enter the BIOS to check the Battery Care option, if yours has it" - any specific steps I need to perform?

Running a memory test until battery level is near nil and then recharging, may or may not calibrate the battery. Since you already have the replace battery warning there isn't much of a risk. After the battery storage charge has been depleted, do not turn on the notebook. Connect the power adapter and let it charge until the charge/power LED indicates full charge.

The only methods I know of that may remove the Change Battery warning are:

1) replace the battery with a new one

2) Do not connect the power adapter. Disconnect the battery and press and hold the power button for about thirty seconds. Release the button and then reconnect the battery. That may remove the replace battery warning.

My personal notebook is an x360 Spectre 13-ap0690nd. In my notebook's BIOS there is a Battery Care function which allows me to set the maximum charge level in order to enhance battery service life. Yours may have a similar feature, but may be called Power Management instead.
