HP Elitebook 830 G5

I am having an issue where I cannot change my screen brightness. The brightness slider does not appear in the toolbar (Win+A shortcut) or in the Display Settings menu.

Here are the troubleshooting steps I have already tried:

  1. Updated the Intel graphics driver via Device Manager.

  2. Uninstalled, reinstalled, updated, and disabled/re-enabled the graphics driver.

  3. Used Intel Support Utility / Intel Graphics Command Center (my device uses Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620).

  4. Downloaded and installed drivers from HP Support.

  5. Reinstalled Windows three times.

Despite all these, the problem remains. Additional observations:

  • Brightness hotkeys (Fn + F2/F3) do work, so hardware backlight is functional.

  • The Night Light option also cannot be enabled, even after driver and registry fixes.

  • Intel Graphics driver version: 31.0.101.2130 (Aug 2024) is currently installed.

  • Device Manager shows my monitor as “Generic PnP Monitor” and it appears normal.

  • HP Hotkey Support service is present in my system.

Could you please advise whether this issue is related to the HP Hotkey Utility / System Event Utility, or if it requires a BIOS/firmware update?
