HP EliteBook 840 G8 Notebook PC (26D60AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

have two Elitebook 840 G8, both didn't detect the USB-C G5 dock stations.

What i did:

  1. Install all latest window updates.
  2. Install the latest BIOS.
  3. downgrade BIOS.
  4. delete all third party software.
  5. upgrade to win11 and then latest windows update.
  6. downgrade from win 11.
  7. restore BIOS to factory default.

nothing help...

i can see the lights on the RJ-45 port, but the network adapter not list in OS.

Plug USB sticker, that works ( 2.0 mode i think).

change to other brand USB-C dockstation, same problem.

i believe some driver prevented the USB-C dock station...

HP USB-C firmware software also not able to detect the dock station...

not sure if anyone got similar problem or not...

thanks in advance.

Hello @stampcoin

In this case, I would replace the dock station with a model that is 100% compatible with your configuration.

Have you already spoken with a HP technician ?
