Can I enable all I need to install virtual machines on this laptop?

https://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06508151.pdf

Windows 10 Home |  AMD Ryzen 3 3200U Processor | RAM: 4 GB |  Storage: 128 GB SSD

Is SVM in there? Can legacy bios be upgraded to a new mode where I can find SVM? Help me out, please. I'm looking to buy one.

Hi @BanburyWalsh,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

Yes, you can enable virtualization (SVM mode) on your HP 14-dk0599sa laptop with an AMD Ryzen 3 processor.

Steps to Enable Virtualization in BIOS:

Restart Your Laptop:

  • Shut down your laptop or restart it and press the Esc key repeatedly as soon as the HP logo appears.

Enter the BIOS Setup:

  • From the Startup Menu that appears, press F10 to access the BIOS Setup.

Locate Virtualization Settings:

  • Navigate to the Advanced or System Configuration tab using the arrow keys.
  • Look for an option like SVM Mode, Virtualization Technology, or AMD-V.

Enable Virtualization:

  • Select the option and set it to Enabled.

Save Changes and Exit:

  • Press F10 to save the changes, then select Yes to confirm and exit the BIOS.

Verify Virtualization (Optional):

  • After booting into Windows, you can check if virtualization is enabled:
    • Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
    • Go to the Performance tab, and under CPU, look for "Virtualization: Enabled."

Sorry to ask this, but do you know this for certain?

Thanks!

Hi @BanburyWalsh,

Enabling virtualization on your HP 14-dk0599sa laptop with an AMD Ryzen 3 processor should be possible as most modern AMD processors support virtualization through SVM (Secure Virtual Machine) or AMD-V. However, whether it is enabled or configurable depends on the BIOS settings of your specific laptop.
