As a freelance IT consultant, I rely on my laptops for heavy office and development tasks. Surprisingly, the new HP EliteBook 8 G11 16  feels slower than my older laptops, including a previous HP with an i7-5950HQ, especially when running Excel, PowerPoint, or compiling C++ code.

The CPU’s performance is heavily limited by power and thermal management, even under light to moderate workloads. For the price of this EliteBook, you could get a consumer laptop with a dedicated GPU and far better sustained performance. This makes it extremely frustrating for professionals who need reliable and responsive performance in everyday tasks.
