You would need to give us the exact model number of the PC so we can have some idea of what kind of ports it has.

The basic requirements for the dock are USB Type-C™ 3.1 Gen 2 (Thunderbolt™ 3, DP 1.2, PD 3.0, Data transfer, HP Sleep and Charge ).

 

Few, if any, mainstream models such as the HP or  Pavilion series have those options.

 

It is a chipset capability and hardware issue, so an update could not fix that problem.

I had already looked that up and noted that it does not meet the requirements for the docking station.

 

That is the downside of having a mainstream laptop model. They just don't have the specifications.
