Hi Guys
I work for a UK University and one of our academic departments is having issues with their dual screen set ups at the moment.
This particular department use HP EliteBook 830 G8 notebooks and the two monitors they have is a HP E24mv G4 and E24 FHD Monitor. During the lockdown we found it hard to purchase HP docks so we purchased a number of Alogic DUPRMX3 MX3 usb-c Docking Station instead. The monitors connect to the dock using display cables and the laptop connects to the dock via the usb-c cable.
At the start it worked well, we had no problems. Then over the last 4 months or so we were getting reports of the dual screen not working. Staff were saying when they plugged the usb-c cable into the usb-c port on the laptop, nothing displayed on the two external monitors. The laptop charges and it has network connectivity from the dock but no display on the two monitors.
The laptops have all the latest Windows 10 security updates installed and all laptops are running Windows 10 64 bit (22H2).
We've also installed HP Support Assistant and installed all the latest HP drivers including the latest bios update. We've tried replacing the display cables, the usb-c cable but it made no difference.
We've also installed the latest firmware for both monitors as well as the firmware for the web cam.
The workaround we've found is after connecting the usb-c cable to the laptop and there's no display on the two monitors, we've found if we remove one of the display cables from the dock, leave it 10 seconds the display comes up on the other monitor that is still connected to the dock, if we then plug the display cable we removed back into the dock the display comes up on the second screen. This works fine until the usb-c cable is removed from the laptop as once the usb-c cable is plugged back in again there's no display on either screen and we have to go through the work around steps again to get a dual screen.
I have a HP Firefly 15 G8 workstation myself and if i plug the usb-c cable into my laptop the dual screen setup works fine. A colleague has a HP EliteBook 830 G6 notebook and it works for him too if he plugs in the usb-c cable.
It just seems to be an issue with the HP EliteBook 830 G8 notebooks.
I just wondered if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this issue?
Thanks
