1040 G4
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

We got the HP EliteBook 1040 G4 and a HP USB-C dock  (TPA-B01), these are both less than a month old.  We re-imaged with Windows 10 Enterprise for our company. I installed the correct NEWEST driver into Windows 10. I updated firmware on both Dock (was already up to date) and laptop.

I did some reserch before buying this laptop and dock, as it's listed as compatable.

When I power the dock (with included 65w powercord) and I plug in the laptop, it does not give a solid light on the dock nor charge, or bearly even power the laptop (the battery will be lower after using for a while).  If I plug power into the laptop(with the dock), it all charges and seems to works fine.

What is the issue here ?  I've used USB-C docks from other brands, this should power/charge the laptop. I have hard this laptop for about 2 weeks and cant deploy it till it works as it should.

Any idea what the problem is here ? We should NOT have to plug in 2 cables to dock this computer.

Really trying to avoid having to call HP's support, last time i called... trasfered around 3 times, hung up on twice and when I finally got connected, it was almost an hour wait.

It was listed as compatable... Sigh... So we have a $200 spare parts item now.  It was even listed as an accessory on the sales page for the 1040 G4....

Anyway... Just ordered a HSA-B005DS, comes with a 90w power cord, I read that others with the 1040 g4 and it was able to charge after going through the same thing.

I guess this detail is not clear. It's a docking station, it should be able to charge any reasonable laptop in the range.  Personally I think it's a joke but, oh well, waisted $200....

Thank you HP for not being clear and having it on your sales page for a laptop that it's not even compatable with....

Hello

I have a 1040 G4 and it need a 90W Power supply in my case has it has a Core  i7-7820HQ  and 16GB.

if you try to use a Docking I guess the 65W PS will not be able to power the Docking AND 1040 G4.

TPA-B01 were sold with 65W PS and are not compatible with 1040 G4. you need  a newer version with at least 90W.

bye
