EliteBook 840 G10

Hi,

I've chosen the EliteBook 840 G10 as my next laptop. Unfortunately, in the EU, the HP store doesn't seem to sell any variants with a smart card reader. There are some third-party sellers which do, but those variants have low-end CPUs and displays.

So my question is: Can I buy a variant without a card reader and then install the reader myself? I've already found the spare parts (N02323-001 for the reader and N09040-001 for the cable). The only issues I could think of is that the slot for the reader is somehow completely blocked in non-reader variants, or there is no connector for the reader. Does anybody know whether this laptop or HP laptops in general can be retrofitted with a card reader?

Thanks!

@je2048

Page 55 of the following manual shows you how to add/replace it

It is an internal part.

Regards.

Thank you! So the plastic cover which blocks the reader slot in non-reader variants can simply be removed?
