Elitebook 830 G5 - 3JW86EA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi. I have a Elitebook 830 G5 - 3JW86EA

Writing this everything firmware/drivers are up to date. Win 10 Pro 64

My problem is that I have a Kingston MobileLite Duo 3C / FCR-ML3C Micro-SD card reader that the Elitebook does not detect in the USB-C port. Link to the thing Kingston MobileLite Duo 3C

I think a firmware/software update is what can solve this.

I have contacted Kingston support, and the UK Hp support chat (rejected me because I am located in Norway)

Here from Kingston support.

Thank you for your query with Kingston.

Your description indicates that the product itself is not defective.
Please check in the Device Manager whether or not the FCR-ML3C is listed at all when connected.
If it is not, then it could be due to an incompatibility between the USB C Host Controller and the controller of the FCR-ML3C.

Type C USB is still in its early stages and compatibility is not yet as universal as one would think.
There may be a firmware update for the USB C Host controller which addresses this incompatibility.
If not, then the only option would be to return the product for a refund to your supplier as all FCR-ML3C as manufactured with the same components at this time.

Kind regards

Bernd Michael Fluegel

This is my description sent to Kingston Support

Never Worked

Does not work in the USB-C port of my HP Elitebook 830 G5 3JW86EA. No reaction at all when pluging inn either way.
It works in the regular USB ports, and as OTG in my Samsung Galaxy over USB-C.
The USB-C port on my laptop works with other devices, phones, charging, transfer data.
