Elitebook 840 G3 latest bios update has issue.

I believed this may help someone.

I recently updated my system bios to the latest version on my Elitebook 840 g3. After which my battery stops charging at 79%. I calibrated my battery (automatic & manual) but still no solution. I finally changed the battery to a new one, to my surprise the charging still stopped at 79%. Then, i downgraded the bios to the last version in 2018 and the battery is charging very well. 

System model: Elitebook 840 G3

System SKU: W0B14US#ABA

it's a new feature available in the BIOS.

You can press F10 during Power-on self test to enter BIOS setup.

this setting was introduced to extend battery life.

If your PC is connected to power outlet instead to charge until it gets 100% , it stops at 79%.

IF you don like this setting , you have to modify it.

The name of the option is Battery Health Manager

you have 3 possibilities, select of of them:

 Maximize my battery health     > in this case max charge is around 79/80%
 Let HP manage my battery charging  -> in this case HP check some battery parameters and decide to charge or 80% or 100%
Maximize my battery duration >in this case max charge is 100%
