Hello,
I have just bought new elitebook 840 G8 for my daughter as this Christmas present. So the notebook will stay unplugged for next 3 months. Thats why I only want to connect power adapter to notebook to charge but not want to swith it on to start booting. Will the notebook stay in “ shipping mode” after I charged it?
thank you for answer and your time

Ahoj @Petrit
Lol, Christmas - isn't it too early for winter gifts 😉 It's so warm where I am now, global warming isn't helping to think about Santa...
Congratulations about you purchase - this Elitebook is very professional high end device which I am sure you and your daughter will enjoy.
You do not need to start the Windows OS and no need to complete the so called out of the box initial setup. However, it would be wise if you manually activate ship mode following these instructions >> https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/ish_7152285-7152414-16
My personal preference is the F10 way.
- If you received the PC in the original HP box and it was sealed and the PC was never ever turned on since it left HP's factory, then it is already in the appropriate ship mode. New computers arrive with the batteries in shipping mode to minimizes battery drain and allow the battery to remain viable for longer than if the computer is simply powered off. However, once the computer has been powered on it automatically exits shipping mode. Refer to the the link above for instructions for placing it back in shipping mode to allow for longer shelf life for the batteries (up to 3 months).
