I have an HP Elitebook 8470p that won't turn on. The battery light on the front edge of the laptop does blink white when plugged in (a fast blinking or flashing). No fan movement. According to the last person who had the laptop, there is a clicking or ticking noise in the charger/adapter when plugged in. (But I don't hear anything and the adapter seems to work fine on another HP laptop.)
I have tried the following:
-- Tried three different HP chargers/adapters (the original 19V one, an 18.5V one, and a 19.5V one, these were just the three I had). No luck.
-- Tried two different power outlets, including one that definitely works. No luck.
-- Removed battery and unplugged the adapter. Then pressed the power button for 30-60 seconds to get rid of any static. No luck, still won't turn on.
-- Reseated the RAM multiple times. Took out one RAM stick at a time before trying to turn on. No luck. Swapped slots (transferred one RAM stick into the other slot, and the other into the first slot) before trying to turn on. No luck.
Is the motherboard fried? Can anyone suggest anything else I could try? Thanks in advance for any help.
