Microsoft Windows 11

Hello community,

I am trying to get my Elitebook 850 G8 (1G1X7AV) wich runs with Windows 11 23H2 to work with a HP USB-C Dock G5 (5TW10AA#ABB).

According to the Dock's data sheet, only the following versions of the Windows 11 OS are supported:

  • Windows 11 21H2
  • Windows 11 22H2

The current version of the OS (23H2) was auto installed during a system update. I wonder, why the update was released, if no full hardware support is guaranteed?

I bought the Dock used after the system were already 23H2 level. When pluggen into the USB-C port, the LED on the Dock blinks once and nothing happens (the laptop's battery isn't being charged, no devices appear in the Thunderbolt Control Center). The UEFI settings are factory defaults. All the updates are installed on the system in the HP Support Assistant.

The Dock is wokring with my other Laptop (Lenovo), so the issue seems to be the settings of the laptop. Are any special settnings needed in the UEFI to make the Dock work?

I'd really appreciate any help with this issue.

Please check the compatible list on the following document

           https://www.hp.com/au-en/shop/hp-usb-c-dock-g5-5tw10aa.html

The dock should work on your machine even your machine it NOT on the list. Is it a second hand dock ?

Regards.

Thank you for your reply. I know, that the dock isn't on the list, but should work, as you said.

It is a second hand dock, but the package was factory sealed, so basically it is/was new when I first connected it to my laptop.

After performing several tests (including USB port tests in UEFI and HP Support Assistant), resetting Windows, the system stopped recognizing all the USB devices on any USB port. I'm afraid, this might be a hardware issue.

The laptop, too, is a second hand device, but as I see it in HP Support Assistance it still has a valid Care Pack until March 2025. I'm afraid I must contact service and try to organzie a repair. I wonder, if this will work since I'm not the first owner of the device, i.e. the Care Pack was bought by the first owner.
