I have replaced the hard drive in my HP Elitebook 8530w and installed Windows XP Pro.
I would like to install Windows 7 as a dual boot. I am able to do it in IDE mode but would prefer AHCI mode.
I believe I need the AHCI driver for windows XP to do this but have not been able to find it.

Hi:
I have zipped up and attached the SATA AHCI drivers you need below.
You will either have to slipstream them, install them with a USB FDD at the F6 prompt and select the specific driver, or force install the ACHI driver in IDE mode, restart the PC, change the BIOS setting to AHCI mode and the installation will complete when you get back into Windows, and prompt you to restart the PC again.
If you are going to load the driver at the F6 prompt with a USB FDD, or force install the ACHI driver in IDE mode, then you will need to select this specific driver from the list...
Intel(R) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller
If you are not familiar with how to force install the AHCI driver in IDE mode, you can follow the guidance I posted in this discussion below...the reply shaded in green. Use the above driver though, not the one in that discussion.

Sorry, I've been very busy these last few weeks.
I used the force install method for the AHCI driver.
It worked perfectly.
Thank you for the info.
Troubles I had...
I blue screened and black screened my laptop countless times trying to do this but its finally working.
My issue was that I was restoring an XP image and a Win7 image into a dual boot configuration, neither of which were previously in a dual boot. XP was IDE. Win 7 was AHCI. I was able to restore them individually with no problems but when I'd restore the second one it wouldn't boot either. I was finally able to get it working by booting to a Macrium Reflect flash drive and using their "Fix boot problems" tool. What's kind of funny is that I originally started this because my old HDD wouldn't boot. It would crash as the Windows "flower" was assembling. After I finally got the new SSD working, I had the brilliant idea to try the "Fix boot problems" and it worked(SMH) so now I have 2 working Drives 🙂
Anmyway thanks again.

You're very welcome.
I'm running W10 Pro 64 bit on my HP Elitebook 6930p (similar 14" model to yours).
Works great. Mine doesn't have a webcam and I don't use the fingerprint sensor, but I installed the driver.
I used the W7 drivers for any devices that W10 didn't install.
