HP Elitebook 8570p
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have purchase two used Elitebooks: 8560p and 8570p.

I appreciate very much the possibility to upgrade HW components  through opening the bottom cover  so easily as it  normally  can be done. I opened the 8560p, and replaced HDD with a fast SSD. But when I tried to open the 8570p the same way, I could not get the bottom cover open, the bottom cover is stuck somehow?

I cannot say, if the locking mechanism is stuck, or is the cover accidentally "glued" for instance spilling  some sugar drink. Anyhow the bottom, as well as the whole machine seems to be clean and  OK. It also works fine, but I would like to upgrade its HDD.

HOW TO  OPEN A STUCK MAINTENANCE COVER? - THE BOTTOM COVER OF 8570P?

I solved this by myself. I checked from 8570p's Maintenance&Service Manual for the exact correct opening instructions for opening the base plate (for being sure that I won't damage the machine trying). Then I put a little more force trying open it.

The background panel opened! It was stuck due to a small piece of folded tape under the plate. Perhaps it was added by the earlier owner to prevent some vibration&noise, but the tape was turned so that the sticky side was "glued" to plate and chassis. After removing this small bit of tape, the background plate was easy to close or open with fingertips, as with my other Elitebook 8650p.

Be careful adding whatever inside your computer!
