HP EliteBook 860 16 inch G11 Notebook PC (8N369AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My laptop is currently connected to a StarTech KVM Hub which provides power to the laptop.
I'm concerned, however that, if teh laptop is always plugged in & taking power (this model is powered via USB-C connection, the battery will degrade - I know the "theory" is that modern laptops are far less susceptible to this ('though I did end up killing the battery on my HP Spectre).

Obviously, the USB-C cable needs to stay connected to allow me to use connected monitor & keyboard, but I don't want to end up taking the laptop away & having to plug it in because battery is dead.
So, I wonder whether it is possible to set power settings anywhere so that th elaptop doesn't take a charge until battery level drops to, say, 20% & then, once it's fully charged, it stopes taking poser until the next time it hits 20%?

Cheers
Colin

Hello.

You can set your laptop to charge the battery only to 80% to maximise its life. You can either use the HP Power Manager to change the setting in Windows, or you can change the setting in BIOS as well. HP Power Manager should be pre-installed with all HP commercial (=business) laptops that run Windows.
