I purchased a new HP elitebook G6, however it seems there are three buttons that are non-functional..the two call buttons and the next button with a 'desktop icon' on it. Tried updating my keyboard drivers but no change yet...anyone with an idea, assist

try running HP Image Assistant and update BIOS and all drivers and software it suggests... the call buttons only work with Skype... Teams and Zoom don't have the extensions required to be supported by those buttons

I work for HP. However, all opinions and comments are my own.

Appreciate the background, yet, knowing that;

  • Skype has been almost completely phased out from the enterprise scene and already replaced by tools such as MS Teams, Zoom, Webex etc,
  • And the Elitebook series are designed primarily for business/enterprise usage
  • Plus the fact that there are already some Microsoft approved devices/gadgets providing similar call button functionality (see for example Speakerphones for Conference Calls | Teams devices (microsoft.com)), meaning that there must be some APIs/Extensions available at least for MS Teams,

Shouldn't HP also work on getting these otherwise useless buttons functional? The same goes for "HP Thunderbolt Dock G2 Audio Module as well".

I want to believe that HP is acknowledging this and working on some firmware/driver updates. Any info/comment on this? Or who can shed some perspective?
