i own the 840 G5 elitebook pc, and there’s a orange light that stays on even when i shut down , it doesn’t go off until the battery is fully drained.
The orange light is beneath the F11 key and at the lower left the pc too a orange light stays on until the batter is fully drained.
Thanks.

Hi @umRt,
Welcome to the HP Community!
I understand that the orange light beneath the F11 key and the orange LED on the lower-left side of your HP EliteBook 840 G5 remain illuminated even after the notebook is shut down and only turn off once the battery is completely drained.
Please check the following:
Perform a hard reset
Shut down the notebook.
Disconnect the AC adapter and all external devices.
Remove the battery if it is removable.
Press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds.
Reconnect the battery/AC adapter and power on the notebook.
Shut it down normally and check whether the LEDs turn off.
Check whether the notebook is actually shutting down
After selecting Shut down, wait a few minutes.
Check whether the display remains off and whether the fan stops completely.
Try pressing the Power button once. Let us know whether the system immediately starts/resumes or performs a normal boot.
Test with Fast Startup disabled
Open Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
Select Change settings that are currently unavailable.
Uncheck Turn on fast startup.
Save the changes and perform a full shutdown.
Check the F11 key
On the EliteBook 840 G5, the F11 key is associated with the microphone mute function.
Please press F11 once and check whether the orange indicator changes.
Let us know whether the F11 LED remains illuminated regardless of the mute state.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
Shut down the notebook.
Power it on and repeatedly press Esc.
Select F2 – System Diagnostics.
Run the available battery and system tests.
If a failure ID is generated, please provide it.
Also, please confirm whether the orange LED on the lower-left side is still illuminated when the AC adapter is disconnected and the notebook has been shut down.
This will help determine whether the LEDs are simply indicating a particular system state or whether the notebook is not entering the expected shutdown state.
I hope this helps
Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
