Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I used to use F4 button to repeat last action in Excel with my old laptops ( last one was HP Probook 450 G3 )

Now, I have a new HP probook 450 G10 and since I started to use it I am not able to use the F4 button to repeat last action in Excel as I used to do with my old laptop

Any advice please ?

Thank you for reaching out!

The functionality of function keys like F4 may be altered based on the default settings of your laptop's keyboard. Here's how you can potentially regain the use of the F4 button for repeating the last action in Excel:

  1. Check Function Key Mode:

    • Some HP laptops come with a "Function Key Mode" in the BIOS, which changes the default behavior of the function keys. If this is enabled, you will have to press Fn + F4 to use the standard F4 functionality in Excel.
    • To change this setting:
      • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup by pressing F10 during startup.
      • Look for the "Function Key Behavior" setting, and change it to "Standard" or similar option.
      • Save changes and exit the BIOS.
  2. Use the Fn Key:

    • If you do not wish to change the BIOS settings, you can use the Fn key in combination with F4. Pressing Fn + F4 Should repeat your last action in Excel if the function keys are programmed for special functions like volume or brightness control.
  3. Keyboard Shortcuts in Excel:

    • Ensure that Excel is set up correctly. Sometimes, Excel settings might need resetting.
    • Try reinstalling or updating Microsoft Office to ensure there are no compatibility issues.
