Details:
I am using an HP ZBook X G1i with the original 150W 4.5mm barrel power adapter connected, while also using a Thunderbolt 4 monitor (HP 738PU). Windows 11 24H2 consistently shows a “slow charger” warning.

This is misleading, because:

  • The 150W adapter is connected and provides sufficient power.

  • The warning is triggered by the monitor’s USB-C PD (which is below the required wattage), but the laptop is not actually charging slowly.

Impact:

  • Causes confusion for users, especially in enterprise deployments.

  • May lead IT teams to incorrectly suspect power issues.

Request:
Please update BIOS/firmware/HP Power Manager to suppress “slow charger” notifications when the official barrel adapter is detected, even if a secondary USB-C PD source is connected.

Thank you for considering this improvement.

Hi Vjx

As I already wrote, the issue was resolved by upgrading BIOS to 01.03.02 Rev.A released Sep 24, 2025.

For additional info, simptoms before BIOS update...

Bought new HP ZBook X G1i 16 inch Mobile Workstation PC IDS Base Model Product number:B4YT6AV.

No hardware or software modifications, use Windows 11 which was preinstalled to computer.

After I get computer I run Windows update, to get the latest Windows 11 updates, I also run HP Support assistant to get any driver updates.

When I connect notebook to my Thunderbolt4 monitor HP 738PU and at the same time i had computer connected to original HP 150W supply which came with computer, In windows, I alwas get this notification for "slow charging".

But, as I already wrote, After BIOS update to 01.03.02 Rev.A, no more notification, computer know that there is 150W barrel 4,5mm supply and that has enough power.
