250 G8
Microsoft Windows 11

after updating the BIOS from F.52 to F.53 the fan isn`t working anymore even under high CPU load, the BIOS test is working and Fan is spinning. BIOS rollback failed. Is there a way to get back to F.52 as a download as the latest version from before listed is F.44?

Hi@anbauer, @CE70,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing Fan issues with the HP Notebook PC

I have a few recommendations

  • Try doing System Restore if it had worked fine few days ago and check if it works.
  • Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
  • You can do Reset PC Keep my files from windows.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi@CE70,

Thank you for responding, I appreciate your time and effort.

Adjust the power settings, clean the fan vents, check for suspicious processes. It is normal for the fans to spin loudly for five to twenty seconds when the computer initially turns on.

If the issue still persists then it could be a hardware issue on the PC.

Hi,

have you been able to locate a download source for F52 and a way to downgrade? I'm having trouble with a 250 G8 as well.

HP Recommended

not able to downgrade bios,  hp support still not useful,

bat customer experience for a big brand such Hp.

not a useful answer,  the pc is still at hig temp, I guess I could activate fan always on but  this will drain the battery fast.

I cannot undestand why  we cannot downgrade to a bios that will work ( I updated to f53 because I 'm using windows 11)

Hi CE70! I've had similar problems with business HP laptops where a screwy bios update made the fan do all sorts of things. HP is obliged to fix bugs like these, so inform them anyway you can.  I'm pretty sure HP doesn't want to have to take in all sorts of fried laptops still under warranty....

Anyways, in the past I've used hirschmann's program with very good results. You can assign speeds to different temperatures and basically get back a decent working (HP) fan. Two problems: The program has not been updated for win11 (should work though), and you have to pretty much find the right config (fan registers) for your laptop. One usually tries the configs of similar older HP laptops. You should try it until HP decides to actually remedy this!
