No doubt many laptops had been affected by this BIOS update. HP said my faulty new laptop (only bought last week) will be collected by UPS and repaired by its warehouse in Poland. It may take 8 to 10 working days.

HP has just sent me the following email.
Our technicians inform us that the repair of your SERIAL NUMBER: ******** units will likely be delayed due to the need to perform a more in-depth analysis of the error and additional testing.
We apologize for any inconvenience this situation may cause.
If you need further information, please do not hesitate to contact HP Support.
Thank you for understanding. Once again, please accept our apologies.
This BIOS update did serious damage to laptops.

Hello everyone,
Thanks again for your tips and support. Yesterday HP Service contacted me and told me that my notebook will be picked up. In this case, the system will probably be completely reset. All data will then be lost. This is all extremely unsatisfactory, especially as the fault was clearly caused by HP. I was also told again that the problem is known to be with this particular model. This makes me even more unsure about what might happen in the future. I have been a satisfied HP customer for many years. Now my confidence has dropped significantly. At the moment, I can only hope that this will be an isolated case for me. And that HP will do everything it can to prevent this problem from happening again. Consistent testing before a software update would certainly be a helpful first step... Because the customer should never unintentionally become a test pilot.
