Firefly 14 hibernates when on AC power even though set to never sleep?

My Firefly14 will turn itself off (need to hold power button to restart) sometimes, even when on AC power. My System->Power & Battery settings are set to 'When plugged in, put my device to sleep after: "Never"' 

I checked event viewer, and I see System event 'Kernel-Power' that has a description:

"The system is entering sleep.

Sleep Reason: Hibernate from Sleep - Standby Battery Budget Exceeded"

I read this page https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/customize/power-settings/adaptive-hibernate

and it says "The settings are applied on DC only and have no impact on AC."

So, why does my laptop that is on continuous AC power via a HP Docking Station sometimes completely hibernate (need a power button press & bitlocker entry) even though it is set to 'sleep never' when on AC power?

How can I prevent this?

Hello.

We need more information here. Does this only happen when you are out of office? Does someone remove power from the dock at night? When you come back to your shut down computer, is it receiving power from the dock?

If you leave your computer on, there should also be Kernel-Power message 105 when your laptop start or stops receiving power. At some point your computer thinks that external power is disconnected. Start from there.

In any case I would recommend updating both BIOS and dock firmware in any case for possible power fixes.

You can disable hibernation completely with powercfg -h off on an elevated command prompt. Sleep mode consumes the battery because the RAM contents are refreshed continuously, so that's why Windows by default enables hibernation.
