Hello @Ayyaz7836, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

If you have forgotten the password for your HP 255 15.6 inch G10 Notebook PC, the recovery method depends on whether you use a Microsoft account or a local Windows account. Fortunately, Windows provides several options to regain access to your system.

Passwords can be forgotten after periods of inactivity, password changes, or when multiple accounts are used on the same device. The appropriate recovery method depends on the type of account configured on the notebook.

Microsoft Account Recovery

If you sign in to Windows with a Microsoft account, password recovery can be completed online.
  1. Go to the Microsoft Account Recovery Page on another device or phone.
  2. Enter your email address and follow the steps to verify your identity.
  3. Create a new password, connect your HP laptop to Wi-Fi, and sign in with the new details.

Local Account Security Questions

If you use a local Windows account and previously configured security questions, you may be able to reset the password directly from the sign-in screen.
  1. On the login screen, click the wrong password text box to reveal the Reset password link.
  2. Answer your security questions set up during the local account creation.
  3. Type a new password and log back into your computer.

Factory Reset via Recovery Environment

If password recovery options are unavailable, you can use the Windows Recovery Environment to reset the PC.
  1. From the Windows sign-in screen, click the power icon, press and hold the Shift key on your keyboard, and click Restart.
  2. Select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
  3. Choose Remove everything or Keep my files (note that recovery without knowing an admin password often requires removing data or a clean reinstall).
  4. Select Local reinstall and follow the prompts to complete the reset.
After completing the appropriate recovery method, you should be able to regain access to Windows using a new password or by resetting the device.

To help determine the best recovery option, please let us know:
  • Are you signing in with a Microsoft account or a local Windows account?
  • Do you see a Reset password option on the Windows sign-in screen?
  • Are there any important files on the notebook that must be preserved before attempting a reset?

Have a great day!

I'm an HP Employee.
