Elitebook 840 G8
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

It seems the G7 to G8 jump has changed the hardware for the touchpad on laptops.

I have seen this behavior now on a Firefly and also the new 840's

If a non-generic driver is needed I have imported every Synaptics driver I could think of, directly from my device driver pack and even from the HP Driver pack for the device.

These drivers work once the device is imaged and in Windows, but not in the PE.  So I am left to assume some additional driver is also needed, perhaps an interface/communication driver?

My PBE is based on Windows 10 1909

Hello

you need to add Intel Serial I/O driver in WinPE.

It works even usinf DRVLOAD in WINPE, to load the .INF on the fly. AFter your verified it works, you can modify your boot.wim of WinPE image.

for 840 G8: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp112501-113000/sp112816.exe

for 840 G7 https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp112001-112500/sp112041.exe

Seems to be correct.  I had fixed it by adding the newest Win PE Drivers from HP normally we just use Network and Disk drivers but this time I also added the I/O Drivers.

Funny enough don't even need the touchpad drivers, just the interface driver.
