HP EliteBook 840 G3, Prod ID X1W34UP#ABA & HP 2013 Ultra Slim Docking Station, Prod ID D9Y32AA#UUF
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have the following

  • HP EliteBook 840 G3
  • HP 2013 UltraSlim Docking Station
  • Two Samsung external monitors, each with one HDMI and one VGA jack

Two problems:

1) When I snap the laptop into the docking station, the monitors don't activate; I have to open the laptop cover, then log in, then move my mouse around a few times to get the monitors to activate.

2) I cannot split the display between the two external monitors - I can see only the same thing on both. I've used WIN-P to reset the dislay to "Extend" but no change. I also have a Dell laptop where I'm using the same set up (Dell docking station, VGA splitter, two Samsung monitors, and all works fine).

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Please update BIOS, Video driver and make sure Essential system update is installed. You mentioned you are connecting one monitor using VGA and other using HDMI, no direct Diplay port -Display port . Please make sure HDMI adapter is HP branded.
