Hello everyone,

I need help with a very specific BIOS issue on my HP 255 G8 laptop. My fTPM option is missing from the BIOS, so I cannot enable Device Encryption in Windows 11. I have identified that my BIOS is very old and needs an update, but my main problem is that I am completely unable to access the HP support website to download the file.

My System Details:

  • Product Name: HP 255 G8 Notebook PC

  • Product Number: 3K1G7PA#ACJ

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3500U

  • Operating System: Windows 11 Home (Upgraded from Windows 10)

  • Current BIOS Version: F.44 (from 2021)

Background / What Happened:

  1. I recently had the screen replaced at a local repair shop. This seems to have reset my BIOS to factory defaults.

  2. Immediately after the repair, I upgraded the laptop from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

  3. After the upgrade, Windows 11 shows a "TPM is not usable" error because the fTPM option is completely missing from the BIOS menu.

Troubleshooting Steps I've Already Taken:

  • I have carefully checked every tab and submenu in the BIOS (Main, Security, Configuration, etc.). The option to enable the fTPM is not there.

  • I have confirmed my BIOS is version F.44, which is very old. I know the latest version is F.71 or newer and should fix this.

  • My biggest problem is that I cannot access the HP driver download page. I always get a "site is temporarily unavailable" error.

  • I have already tried accessing the site at different times, using a different internet network (my mobile hotspot), and using a VPN connected to different countries. The site will not load for me.

My Specific Question: Since I am completely blocked from accessing the HP support site, could an expert or community member please provide me with a reliable, direct download link for the latest stable BIOS update for my HP 255 G8 (3K1G7PA#ACJ)?

Thank you so much for your time and help.IMG-20251012-WA0001.jpgIMG-20251012-WA0002.jpg[edited]IMG-20251012-WA0004.jpgIMG-20251012-WA0005.jpg

Hi:

I have access to the support page but your notebook already has the latest BIOS installed which is F.44.

There is no F.71.

Thank you so much for your reply. Your information was very helpful and has clarified the situation with the BIOS versions for me.

I now understand that F.44 is the final BIOS for my specific model with the Ryzen 3500U processor.

My original goal was to enable the TPM/fTPM setting so I could use Windows 11 Device Encryption, but this option is not available in my F.44 BIOS menu.

My final question for you is: Can you confirm that there is no other way to enable the TPM on this specific hardware model? For example, is there a hidden setting or an alternative method you might be aware of?

If not, I can accept that the feature is simply unavailable. I just want to be 100% sure I have explored all possible options.

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, there isn't any way that I know of how you would be able to get the TPM/fTPM device to show up.

This forum member has the same problem with a different model AMD notebook with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600H processor, but he just wanted to upgrade to W11 25H2, for which I provided an alternative solution for.

You can't go back to a previous BIOS version either, although I am doubtful that would have made any difference.
