I've recently bought HP 450 G8 (i5-1165G7) which works fine when plugged in, but when I use it on battery power, it starts lagging. It becomes extremely slow; even drag and drop takes time. I feel like working on a core 2 duo system. I searched where another guy posted the same question, and the answer he got was the following:

"Checking the ThrottleStop MMIO Lock box might be the only way to solve this issue. Have a look in the ThrottleStop Limit Reasons window to try to find out why your laptop is throttling. If you cannot run ThrottleStop on your work laptop, you are probably stuck with this annoying problem."

Can someone help me with this? I really really need to fix this. If someone can explain the solution, I would be grateful.

Thank you

When Speed Shift is enabled, you do not need to press the Turn On button. I usually press this button but it does not matter.

You usually do not need to check the Speed Shift EPP box on the main screen. As long as Speed Shift is enabled, Windows can manage the EPP variable. Look in the FIVR window to see what Speed Shift EPP value the CPU is using.

Your screenshot shows that Disable Turbo is checked. This reduces CPU performance. If you want the full performance you paid for, do not check Disable Turbo.

With Speed Shift enabled and when ThrottleStop is setup correctly, does this resolve the problem you were having?

Did you try using ThrottleStop? Did you try checking the MMIO Lock box  in the TPL window?

Try what has already been suggested. If this suggestion does not solve your problem, post your results. I would also make sure that the Speed Shift box is checked in the TPL window and that the Min and Max values are set to the suggested values.

Upload some screenshots to imgur or a similar image hosting site if you need help.

Thank you so much for your kind reply. the issue is that I don't know how to check that stuff. I actually don't know what is MMIO Lock box or TPL window you mentioned. If you can kindly spare a minute to let me know the step or what should I note/send you, I'll be highly grateful. Please do me a favor and explain the steps to fix it. Thank you so so so much.

Did you download and run ThrottleStop yet? The directions provided seem self explanatory. Here is a picture of what needs to be tried. Also check the Speed Shift box.

Do I need to draw a red line under where it says Speed Shift? I hope not.  😀

There are piles of ThrottleStop YouTube videos and tutorials available. Search Google and search YouTube.

Your screenshot shows that you did not follow my advice. You did not check the MMIO Lock box and you did not check the Speed Shift box.

I cannot help you if you do not follow these suggestions.

Brother, I've clicked on the MMIO box in TPL Window but the SpeedShift is greyed out. I am unable to click it. How can I enable it? Please don't get frustrated as I really need to fix it and need your help 🙂

I am not sure why Speed Shift has been completely disabled by the BIOS. This is very unusual for an 11th Gen processor. Go into the BIOS and look for the Speed Shift option. Enable this option if you can find it.

If you cannot find a Speed Shift option in the BIOS, search the manufacturer's website for your computer model and see if there is a BIOS update available for your computer.

If you cannot find a BIOS option or update that enables Speed Shift Technology, try using the older SpeedStep CPU control method. Check the SpeedStep box on the main ThrottleStop screen. Check the Set Multiplier box and set this to the highest possible value. The maximum turbo speed for an 1135G7 is 4.20 GHz The Set Multiplier should be set to a value of 42 T. The T stands for turbo.

Once these values are set correctly, press the Turn On button at the bottom to send these values to the CPU. When set properly, you should not see the word Monitoring in the title bar.  Post a screenshot of your updated settings.

Clear the Disable Turbo box and clear the BD PROCHOT box. Intel CPUs use turbo boost to reach maximum speed. You never want to disable this useful feature.

You are a genius. You are right and the settings for speedshift were to do something with BIOS. I fixed it after doing some research (screenshots are below). Now, the speedshift is not greyed out. If you kindly check the screenshot, I've enabled MMIO Lock box. I've also enabled SpeedShift (the default minimum value is 1 which I believe is lower than the suggested value which is 4). Do I just need to change it to 4 and click "Turn on" on the main screen? Just this? and the issue will resolve correct?

Secondly, should the throttlestop program run in the background? Should I put it to startup programs to make it run each time windows starts? Thank you for your help
