Hi

I'm doing this on a fresh installation of Windows 10. I'm not automating it. I used the command prompt "cmd" to run the commands.

By the way, my windows 10 has the feature update 1803. I also tried to run the commands on safe mode, but no success. I will call HP support tomorrow.

Best regards

Josef

Jmeile76,

Have you run HP Image Assistant?

After updating all available drivers, is the trackpad still acting up?

Hi Ted

No, I haven't tried that. I will do it tomorrow.

Regarding the touchpad. It is actually working, but I'm having an issue with the left mouse button sending a double click, when I really clicked it once. I though that that device may be the problem sind it is labeled with an "exclamation mark" and the error is what was mentioned here:

Synaptics TPFHID Device - Code 19

Hardware id: "HID\VEN_SYNA&DEV_3071&Col02"

Thanks

Best regards

Josef

I know exactly what problem you're experiancing. HPIA will install the correct driver and enable two-finger scrolling, tapping, etc.

Hi Ted

I got the driver problem resolved. I downloaded 26 drivers that the HPIA tool suggested. Must of them were already installed because as soon as I clicked on them it told me that the folder under: "C:\swsetup" already existed, so, I just aborted the installation. Here the missing/old drives on my laptop:

* sp84078

* sp84268

* sp84529

* sp84725

* sp84851

* sp87023

* sp87554

* sp87614

* sp87653

* sp87661

* sp89082

* sp91535

* sp91849

The last drive was the one that solved the problem:

* sp91849: HP Pointing Device Driver

After installing it, the driver problem was gone and I got also the advaced settings of the TouchPad, ie: gestures, taps, scroll and zoom, etc.. I will see if the clicking problem was solved; for now the buttons behave as they should.

I just have to add that before trying the HPIA utility, I manually downloaded the drivers from the hp support site, then I also ran the HP Support Assistant and updated the drivers from them, but it didn't work. Only the HPIA works. By the way, the SoftPaq utitility seems to be broken in the newer models, they won't be recognized, so, that also failed.

Anyway, thanks for your help.

Best regards
Josef
