HP at this time has 2 types of adapters.

One that has a center pin and is referred to as a SMART adapter.

Then there is the older style and is referred to as a DUMB adapter.

Next to know what your laptop requires you would need to look on the bottom of the laptop to find the Volts and Amps.

Volts  x  Amps  =  Watts

Most HP laptops are 60w, 90 w, and 120w. " Some are even higher "

Then you can look at the AC adapter and match the AC adaptors Wattage to the requirements of the laptop.

One rule is YOU CAN GO A LITTLE HIGHER WITH THE WATTAGE BUT NEVER LOWER.

1, you mentioned that HP has two kinds of adapters, does that mean it "ONLY" has two?

2, if mine is the "SMART" adapter, it can be inter-changeable with hp laptop as long as it has the "SMART" power hole? (nt sure if i named it correctly though)

TIA
