Hi everyone,
I have a new Elite Book PC with Windows 11 Pro and an AMD Ryzen 7 350 (32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD). I'm trying to use the HP AI Companion app, but it keeps crashing as soon as I launch it.
I tried restoring the app, uninstalling it, and reinstalling it from the Microsoft App Store. All the drivers seem to be updated by HP Support Assistance. I also updated the video drivers from the AMD website.
I have HP Wolf Protection and CyberGhost VPN (but it's turned off and not in use). The Intego Antivirus part of CyberGhost is uninstalled because it conflicts with Wolf Security.
The PC is new, and I'm not a novice... It seems strange that this beta version of AI Companion isn't running. Any suggestions?

My HP AI program opens and starts immediately the update but it stops at 75%

I'm experiencing the same issue. On my new OmniBook 7 notebook, the update starts immediately after launching HP AI Companion and then gets stuck at 75%.

HP support couldn't help either.

Hi Michl.

In the end, my experience with HP technical support ended like this: they made me uninstall HP AI Companion and install "Microsoft Copilot" in its place. Before that, I had done a thorough analysis with GPT chat, also analyzing the Windows logs. The application conflicts with the Windows Runtime 1.5 DLL (if I remember correctly) and forcibly calls it. The solution was for HP to update the Companion application, but apparently they didn't do so and made you download Copilot. Basically, the GPT chat analysis said that our PCs with neural AI chips are "too new and advanced" for this type of application. So either HP updated it, or we had to choose something else... HP seems to have chosen Microsoft Copilot... (which should be similar from a preliminary analysis). HP's first level of support is definitely not that "qualified." They respond after a few days, after having interacted with the "higher technical level."

Hi, I'm on an Omnibook 16 as-0276ng with 32GB RAM and an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V.

After starting the HP AI Companion, it updates up to 75% and then stops.

When you open the Microsoft-Store you can see that it downloaded 3 out of 4 Add-Ons for the HP AI Companion App and fails at the 4th.

The error code is "0X80073D15".

The Add-On "HP AI Model SLM WW INTEL ONNX DML"

AND

The Add-On "HP AI Model SLM WW AMD ONNX DML"

seem to have the same App-IDs in the Microsoft-Store so that the Microsoft-Store cannot proceed to download the next Add-On.

If you cancel the failed Add-On (INTEL) and deinstall the companion app and its other Add-Ons, you can retry the failed one (INTEL).

After downloading this Add-On, the store prompts that the app has to be installed to install an Add-On.

After installing the HP AI Companion App again and restarting the download of this Add-On without starting the HP app, the Add-On (INTEL) is installed correctly.

BUT if you now open the HP AI companion App again, it starts to update and stops at 0% or 33% or 66% (with now 3 missing updates) again.

Then  the other Add-On (AMD) fails in the store.

When you are stuck at any percentage of the Update, you can open the Microsoft-Store and cancel the failed Add-On. Then the HP AI Companion app prompts "Try Again later" or "Retry to Download now".

If you pick "Try Again Later" the App starts normally.

TL;DR:

Cancel the failed Add-On download in the "Microsoft-Store" and then click "Try Again Later" on the "HP AI Companion App"

I really don't know.
I have an Elite Book with an AMD Ryzen 350 and 32 GB of RAM (Copilot + PC).
In my case, the HP AI Companion app was already preinstalled on the PC. Uninstalling and reinstalling it didn't help (it worked fine for me). The Windows logs showed it was clashing with a Windows DLL.
As I mentioned, HP made me install Microsoft Copilot. In any case, I believe AI Companion is no longer maintained.
