HP D9Y19AV Ultra Slim Docking Station for EliteBook WILL THIS WORK WITH ELEITE BOOK 840 G3

it clicks in place but wont  seem to power up

Yes, the Ultraslim dock will work with the Elitebook g3 generation. It may sound silly but when i first got to look at the dock (many years ago) i attempted to plug the power adapter to the wrong port and i assume the dock was bad... just be aware of that... Also, there is a power button right behind the connection slider on the top of the dock that needs pressed

Of course, you may have a bad dock or power supply as well... so anything is possible... the ultraslim dock supported 8 generations of laptops thru the elitebook g6 model
