HP Elitebook 1030 G1
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hi, my brand new HP Elitebook 1030 G1 computer is not charging when I connect the HP Elite USB-C Dock to it.  Is there any particular reason for this?

The EliteBook 1030 G1 does not support charging via USB-C.  The EliteBook 1030 G1 only supports charging via the barrel AC connector or from an UltraSlim Docking Station.

The 1030 G1 supports the following power supply options:

HP 45W Smart AC adapter
HP 45W AC adapter 2-prong (Available for Japan and England)
HP 65W Smart EM AC adapter (Available for Asia, China and India)
HP 65W Slim Travel AC adapter (Available for Japan, England and Australia)

and the following power cords:

2-wire plug – 1 m (Available with HP 45W 2-prong adapter)
3-wire plug – 1 m (Not available with HP 45W 2-prong adapter)
3-wire plug - 1.8 m (Not available with 45W 2-prong adapter)

The Elitebook 1030 G2 x360 G2 is different.  Are  you certain you have an EliteBook 1030 G1?

Hello @VC1955,

Welcome to FORUM !!!

Try installing this driver : sp79353.exe

From : https://support.hp.com/vn-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-elitebook-1030-g1-notebook-pc/8674929

See installing the drivers can fix the issue. Also try docking another PC to isolate the issue. If both PC's doesnt charge. Then replace the DOCK under warranty by calling HP.

Thanks GBL84 but it didn't work!  I tried docking another PC to it and it didn't charge it either.  BTW this is a replacement dock from HP as they thought the original dock was faulty!

Hello @VC1955,

Thank you for your reply !!!

Sorry to know !!

Sometimes its so unfortunate that even the replaced ones come DOA( Dead on arrival) and you have all the rights to get this replaced aswell. Kindly call HP and get it done.  Thats the only solution as of now.

Thanks Joel!  Great to know that I've been sold a "pup"by our IT people.  Also disappointing that the HP tech who came to replace my original USB-C Dock didn't know that.  At least now I won't waste any more time chasing down a solution. Thanks again.

For those looking for HP USB-C power delivery (industry standard) - that HP disabled in their flagship Spectre laptop series -- THERE IS A FIX!  It is BIOS update F.29.  BUT! You will have to find it and manually update because HP's driver update app "Support Assistant" FAILS to perform (surprise?)

However, props to HP for hearing the global outcry about their attempt to monopolize their USB-C implementation by disabling Power Delivery.  Hopefully this is a teachable moment and HP marketing/engineering geeks will grok the failure of proprietary technology to improve on industry standards. e.g. UNIVERSAL Serial Bus.

Good on HP for correcting a major misstep.
