Howdy peeps,
Got this Elite x2 G1 secondhand from my bro. I'm just trying to restore it so someone else can get some use out of it. Paul helped me get it going and solve a few problems with the OS and it operates correctly now with a few exceptions.
One is a flashing power led "code" thing - but I can't find any record for the pattern I am seeing: One long amber, then 3 times short alternating amber and white. (this is next to the power adapter) But occurs whether it is plugged in or not. It holds charge fine and charges/discharges normally.
Second, the magnetic travel keyboard/track pad isn't being detected. I've tried the few things I've found - running updates and pressing power button for 30 secs after shutting down. I'm planning on opening it up soon to check and make sure all the flex cables are seated properly.
(Edit1: flex cables were fine, but the logic board in the keyboard was cracked so it was a lost cause)
Third, whenever the unit is running the camera flash is always on. It doesn't bother me that much, I've just covered it with electrical tape and it doesn't appear to be excessively draining the battery. I guess I could remove the flex cable from the connector and that would "solve" it since I don't plan on using the camera.
(Edit2: disconnected the camera flex cables, turns out the out facing camera flex cable had failed and bridged three of the traces together. Guess I could install a new one but not really worth it to me at this time)
Also a bit of an oddity that I don't know is related to any of these, but when it first boots there is a small white box in the lower right with two parallel lines with dots in them. I'm not really that familiar with windows 10 so this could be normal?
(Edit3: turns out this is a touch screen toggle for on screen keyboard before it boots into windows I guess? haven't used a touch screen tablet computer much before so hadn't seen that feature)
Regardless, thank you everyone for all the work.
Cheers, and stay safe out there all~
