HP EliteBook 640 14 inch G9 Notebook PC IDS Base Model

I recently update my latptop to Windwos 11 and I wanted to Sign In via Fingerprint (in widows 10, unfortunately, I haven't testes if it worked).

I get the following error:

FrancescoS1_0-1674660463800.png

So I started by looking at some drivers on the HP website and I came across two of them.

The first I tried:

Driver - HP EliteBook 640 14 inch G9 Notebook PC | HP® Customer Support

Since it didn't make any change, I tried also:

Driver - PC Notebook HP EliteBook 840 G6 | Assistenza clienti HP®

No changes happened and the error was always there...

By googling the message, I found most of the people can see a "Biometric Devices" in the Device Manager. However I cannot have that voice even if I click on "Show hidden devices"

I also installed the optional Windows Update but no luck again.

Lastly I tried to install the HP support assistant and I checked for new updates. There were a bunch of them which I installed.

Again, I cannot see neither the "Biometric Devices" nor to use the "Fingerprint recognition".

Help please

Hello

Finger Print Reader is optional, if you don't see it in Device Manager is because it's not included in your computer.

in this configuration is also not included the IR Webcam for Windows Hello Face Recognition.

bye

Hello, I have the same question, but in my case it is a ZBook Firefly 14 inch G8 Mobile Workstation, which has the fingerprint reader hardware. The biometric device does not appear in the device manager, and forcing the installation of drivers they do not appear available either.
The same thing happens with windows 10 and windows 11 on the same computer.

I did the tests in Windows 10, and it didn't appear, I upgraded to Windows 11 and it was the same.
Thank you

I've called HP support and they have told me that my workstation model does not have a fingerprint reader. It is a fictitious o dummy reader that they use to lower production costs and not make equipment with different designs. That was my case, I recommend you consult the HP warranty number directly and consult your case.
